Hello! I’m Brynn Gerl, an artist and designer.
I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer originally from Eugene, Oregon, with a central focus on graphic design, brand design and oil painting. I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, bridging fine art and applied design as I explore both traditional media and digital platforms.
My paintings and illustrations draw from personal narrative, nature, and viewer experience, often blurring the lines between fine art and community engagement. I have shown my work in a range of exhibition spaces, including the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, Oregon, where I received the Mayor’s Choice Award, Art in the Park in Chicago, Illinois, and the 2022 Art Bash Annual Exhibition at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My studies also brought me abroad to Florence, Italy, where I deepened my practice in classical art traditions while studying masterworks.
In addition to my studio work, I have contributed to diverse creative projects, from t-shirt and logo design to commissioned oil paintings, murals, digital greeting cards, and poster art. I’ve designed patterns for fabrics, illustrated for publications, and completed an internship with a professional muralist. My work in public art earned me a grant for mural design in South Eugene, and I have completed a series of commissioned murals to date.
My background also includes exploration in interior design, architecture, and UX/UI, enriching my design approach with a spatial and user-centered sensitivity. My technical skills span oil and acrylic painting, pen and ink illustration, and digital tools including Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and XD.
